Primary and Secondary schools will compete separately in three different age categories each. Teams are made up of six riders with either boys, girls or mixed teams who earn points for their respective positions in their own age categories. The winning Primary School team in the Eden District will be representing their school at the Western Cape Championships to be held at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch on 19 September 2015 while the winning High School team will go to the Western Cape Championships as well as the National Championships at Bekker High in Magaliesburg on 3rd of October 2015. These teams with their managers/coaches will have all travelling and accommodation expenses paid for by Spur Steak Ranches who are the main sponsor.
There are goody bags for all online entries and branded front mudguards for the first five teams who enter online. There are also medals to all finishers and prizes for the winners. Entry fees for school teams are R360/team of six (6) riders. Schools are allowed to enter as many teams as they want. Please note that riders may only race in School Colours or unbranded tops and their Eden Cross Country Colours. Eden Cross Country Series: The event dates will coincide with the Eden Spur School MTB League events. The finishing times/positions of all riders under the age of 19 who compete in the Spur School League will count towards points for Eden Cross Country colours. Riders who are still at school can also enter as solo rider to allow them to race for positions/points. Riders 19 and older will compete in separate events on the same day (starting 14h00) as the Spur School League events. A downloadable entry form is available on the website at www.chaingangevents.co.za for pre-entry with an entry fee of R150/rider.
The winners of the cross country series will be presented with their colours at the last event at Mount View Resort on 22 August 2015.
Eden Marathon Championships: This year there will not be an Eden Marathon Series. There will however be a Marathon Championship race which will be the Battle of the Bikes presented by Glenwood House in George on 5 September 2015 at which the winners will be presented with their Eden Colours. Riders need to note that only the riders who has Eden Colours will be eligible for Western Cape Colours at the Western Cape Marathon Championships which will be at Ladismith on 3 October 2015 at the 7Weekspoort Marathon.
All riders who want to compete for Eden Colours have to belong to an affiliated club and be CSA member.
