Carné’s Full Moon Beach Run- 12 December 2019 – Athlete Information

Below are the most critical information about Thursdays’ event and answers to most FAQ. Please have a read through and let me know if you have any additional questions (juan@chaingangevents.co.za / 071 678 7147). Otherwise safe travels and see you on Thursday.

  • REGISTRATION: Will be at NSRI Parking Area (Finish for all the events)
  • Map: Registration at NSRI parking area: Map Link
  • Map: Start of 21km at Swartvlei Beach Parking Area: Map Link
  • Map: Start of 6km at Kleinkrantz Beach Parking Area: Map Link
  • Registration will start from 4pm till 6:45pm at NSRI – if someone else are collecting your tag for you, please have Name, Surname & DOB of runners with you.
  • Mass Start:
  • 21km: 7:15PM – if there are any walkers, please contact me to arrange an earlier (6:30PM) start.
  • 6km: 7:30PM

Shuttle Service: Taxi services to Kleinkrantz (R15/person) & Sedgefield (Swartvlei Beach Parking Area) (R25/person) please let me know in advance in order to provide an estimated number for the taxi service provider to plan.

Watertable: There will only be one watertable at the Start of the 6km Beach Run and the runners doing the 21km must make sure that they take sufficient fluids and food with for the first 15km

Finish : The finish for both events will be at the NSRI Wilderness office

Weather: Weather prediction is that it will be a dry, warm (22 degrees) slightly overcasted evening from 8pm onwards with a light breeze from behind.

  • SAFETY RULES
  • Equipment to bring along: Camelback/Hydration pack, race food, headlight, suitable Trailrunning shoes, Space blanket, whistle, bomb bandage. (There will be no check of equipment – you know the importance of these items)
  • Route have some technical sections (but not severe) and runners must be prepared to get their shoes wet.
  • Route is unmarked, as it follows the beach
  • Medical Support is available from the NSRI Volunteers
