Mad Mountain Marathon (MMM) – 19-21 April 2013

MMM FlyerGreat Karoo, Small Karoo, Mountains and Beach. Chain Gang Events has managed to incorporate all of them in one of the toughest 3-day stage mountain bike rides, namely the Mad Mountain Marathon (MMM).

The race will start in the historic town of Laingsburg and will follow a route via Prince Albert, Oudtshoorn and the finish in Sedgefield. Sound like a great event and route BUT the logistics are a nightmare ! How do you get to Laingsburg – and back from Sedgefield ? In my opinion there should be a organised cheap option of a Train trip ? (CT-Laingsburg) or a Shuttle and similarly back from Sedgefield. Most potential riders will probably be from the greater CT area.

Yes, the plan is to arrange a train trip from CPT to Matjiesfontein, but that will be in future editions. We did make inquiries, but it was not possible to arrange on short notice. We will arrange transport from Sedgefield to Laingsburg. The best possible solution will be to drive to Sedgefield and leave your car in secure parking which we can arrange and make use of the transport we will arrange if their is enough interest. That way, when you finish on the last day, your vehicle is already there.

Hi Kay, I will have to disagree with you. If you take in consideration it is a 3-day stage race, where you will not sleep in tented accommodation, but in guest houses for three nights, all the meals included, as well as all the extras. There is NO other race that you will find for that low price.
